The Archivo General de Indias (General Archive of the Indies) houses all administrative documents relating to Spain’s colonial territories. While the building was constructed in the sixteenth century, it didn’t become the location of the documents until the eighteenth-century. Now, the documents have been relocated across the street, near the Alcazar, while the former building acts as a museum with fake folios adorning the walls. In front of the museum, four stone lions shaded by orange trees guard the entrance.
